I had these bananas that needed to be thrown out, something told me that I should photograph them. I wasn't thinking... I wanted to show the blackness the contrast of the bruising and the ripe peel. It's been a long time since I've done a simple still life. We can learn something about ourselves, by reducing the complex subject matter and getting back to basics. I tend to do this with my subjects, I remove them from the world so that the focus is on them and their story.
