A Month-In-Photos: October 2018
By: John A. Carlos II

Portrait of Mitch Ray and Kassy Alia from their wedding at City Roots in Columbia, SC on October 20, 2018.
This month was an emotional rollercoaster, I don't think I have cried this much in a long time. It's funny how just one second can make the difference from being so happy that your crying, to so sad that your crying. That's what life was like this past month in just two days I went from being happy for Kassy and Mitch to being sad for a friend that we all lost way too soon. I really wish I was a better writer so that my words could give levity to these emotional times.
Laurin Bank was one of the most caring people I'd ever had the pleasure to know, her smile could light up a room and often did. She touched so many people, it's hard to list all ways that she should be celebrated. I know she had an impact on the life of my best friend Mike Bank, Mike has always been a person I've had the pleasure of knowing, I sometimes feel like I don't measure up. His accomplishments are many but in my mind, the bar was raised even higher when he found Laurin. Laurin's spirit in her fight against cancer was awe-inspiring she had a real vigor and zeal for life. I never saw her with anything other than a smile on her face, to look at her you'd never have known she'd been battling cancer for three years when I first meet her. I don't know how to end this thought process... so I'll just end by posting this...
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.

I glad I got to go to my Nephews Football game after a busy week, I only captured a few images and then watched the rest of the game with my family, go Jackets.

I captured this WWII era Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress during the golf tournament, had to share it because how often do you see these beasts still flying?
